Gardening Club on Tuesday lunchtime this week was very popular ! A total of 46 children attended and whilst we know the numbers will drop off as the colder, wetter weather creeps in it has given us a small problem .. GLOVES !!
Please could any children who loved gardening club and want to continue please bring a pair of gardening gloves and keep them at school for Tuesdays. We do have about 15 pairs but this week they ran out !! As well as gloves it is essential that old shoes / wellies are worn as we get more rain so that the mud is not taken back into school please . Children who don’t have the appropriate footwear will not be able to attend that week.
On another note if you are shopping for seeds / veg / winter flowering plants etc we would be very pleased if you could purchase an extra ones for school. Any small trowels / forks / secateurs that you are not using too would be extremely welcome too along with a bag of compost.
Gardening Club Volunteers Kelly and Cathy love helping the children on Tuesdays and it’s very satisfying seeing their excitement especially when they can take home the produce / flowers they grow .
At the moment we have several large pumpkins ready to harvest and at the end of the summer term the children took home onions/ garlic / beans / potatoes. So watch this space !
Thank you for reading and don’t forget GLOVES especially !
