"I'm delighted to take on the role of Chair of the Governors for the school. The Governing Board exists to provide a level of strategic oversight; holding the school to account for educational and financial performance and ensure that the voices of all stakeholders (children, staff, parents and local community) are heard.

I have been a Governor for just over 2 years, and have really enjoyed the additional insight it has provided me into how the school operates and supports our children (my eldest child finished Year 6 this summer, and my youngest child has just started Year 5, so I have lots of experience as a parent at WFJS.

It is, of course, great to spend time with Mr Lee, the teachers and the school staff, but undoubtedly the best part of being a Governor is having the opportunity to come into school and observe the children during their regular school day - I've always found them to be polite, curious and engaged at whatever part of the school life they're involved.

For new parents to the school - you're probably seeing that life at junior school is a step up from Infant school - the children take on more responsibility and independence and it can be a tough transition for parents. I'd highly encourage you to take up some of the many opportunities there are to get involved in the school - whether it's applying to be a school governor, join the PTA, volunteer to accompany a school trip, etc.

Looking forward to another year at WFJS!"
