Claudia attended Wallace Fields Junior School along with her sister and two brothers. Claudia (born 4 January 1996) is now an English rugby union Scrum-half who plays for the England national team and club rugby for  Exeter Chiefs Women. MacDonald played for Sutton & Epsom RFC before joining the Tyrrells Premier 15s. In 2018, she moved to Wasps Ladies. In 2019, she was awarded a professional contract with the England team. Later that year, she scored a try in England's Super Series against the USA. She went on to play 80 minutes in England's victory over Italy in November 2019. Claudia was a member of the Six Nations Championship England squad. She was selected for England women national rugby union team for the delayed  2021 Rugby World Cup held in New Zealand in 2022.

“I absolutely loved my time spent at Wallace Fields Junior School. I appreciate all the wonderful teachers I had and the huge amount of effort they put in to my education but also developing me as a person, even if I did get into trouble in Year 3 for not doing my homework! I have so many great memories including playing football at lunch with my friends, making it onto the Netball ‘A’ team in Year 5, and being made Deputy Head Girl in Year 6. My favourite subject was, and still is maths, though I also loved P.E. especially climbing the ropes on the indoor apparatus. I admit, I still try to recreate the butterscotch tart that we sometimes had for desert in the school canteen at lunchtime!”

Claudia Macdonald’s mum, Jane Macdonald, worked at Wallace Fields Juniors as a maths group teacher for many years. The family moved away to Dubai in 2008. Jane fell ill and sadly, she passed away and in our quad, there is a special bench in her memory. Here is a picture of the head teacher Mr Lee with Claudia Macdonald when she visited the school sitting on that memorial bench in the summer 2024.
