A huge thank you to Mrs. Hiu who came into Wallace Fields Junior School on Wednesday 11th January 2023 as part of our celebrations of Chinese New Year. Mrs Hui shared many interesting and exciting details about how and why Chinese New Year is celebrated. She shared videos of children in Hong Kong schools and what their festivities included: special clothes and a delicious school dinner. She taught the children a song in Chinese and invited children from each year group to come to the front and perform the song with her. She gave the children who participated a red envelope (a traditional gift given to children at Chinese New Year containing lovely book marks. This is the year of the rabbit (2023) and we are saying goodbye to the year of the tiger (2022)
Those children who have a school dinner will be having a Chinese New Year themed lunch on Thursday 19th January.
