The teachers are all busy planning a very exciting Book Week starting 12th March.
Firstly, thank you to parents who have volunteered to come in and read in classes. A letter has been sent to you confirming the times. If you have not had one, please let me know by email and I will allocate a time.
Here are some of our exciting events:
Monday: year groups will be 'Buddy' reading to each other and Year 6 will visit the Infant School.
Tuesday: The popular authors and illustrators Knife and Packer will be visiting and providing workshops. They will be in the Hall at 3:30 PM to sell and sign books
Wednesday; Billy Bob Buttons (author)will be talking to the children about his books and his experience as an author and will be in the hall to sell and sign books at 3:30 PM
Thursday: The Lady Mayoress will be speaking to Year 3 & 4 in assembly and reading to each class. Also local authors Mandy Archer and Stephanie Clarkson will be in Year 3 and 4 talking about their beautiful children’s abridged versions of Pride and Prejudice and Moby-Dick and signing copies at 3.30pm after school.
Friday: The whole school is invited to dress an a Book character and bring a cushion in for 30 minutes 'comfy' reading in the hall.
There is a competition for 'Extreme reading photographs' and a Book Prize will be given.
A Spelling Bee competition will run during the week culminating in a final where a Book Prize will be given.
Some classes will have parents visiting to read their favourite books or talk about their experience as authors.
