Update as of 16th October 2023

After doing a pre-trip visit this weekend and keeping a close eye on the forecasted weather for Thursday, we have made the decision to postpone the river trip. Our main priority is the safety of the children on the trip and this is the reason for our decision to postpone. The children will have learning related to rivers in school for the day and we will confirm a new date for next half term. We have informed the canteen so Year 5 can have lunch at school as usual.

Thank you for your understanding.

On 19th October 2023, Year 5 will be going on their exciting river trip. This links to our geography topic in autumn term and the children will be carrying out fieldwork at the Hogsmill River. This is a great way for the children to learn about rivers, using our local area.

On the day, all children must:- wear school uniform on the day of the trip, wear shoes which can get wet and muddy, have a waterproof coat with them, bring a packed lunch and water bottles.

We will be leaving school at around 9:30am and will be back before 3pm. Please drop off and pick up at the normal times.

The weather will be monitored closely around the week of the trip. Following our risk assessment, heavy rain in the days leading up to the trip or on the day itself will mean postponing the trip. This will be decided closer to the date and communicated to parents. Fingers crossed for dry weather!

We would really appreciate parent helpers for the trip. Please email Miss Sarjeant via office1@wallacefields-jun.surrey.sch.uk if you are available to assist for the whole day on 19th October 2023. Thank you very much in advance. We will be in touch to confirm parent helpers depending on the number of volunteers!
