Wallace Fields Junior School first opened in September 1967. The school has seen a number of changes during its time - from a Primary to a Middle School, to a Junior School catering for children aged 7 - 11. In 1994 it was made Grant Maintained, and on the 1st September 1999 it became a community school.

The main building contains the hall, a library and resource area, an administrative area, a canteen, an ICT Suite and eight classrooms. Each of these has an adjacent cloakroom and toilets. There are two further classrooms in the free-standing unit in the grounds; and there is a large playground and grassed area surrounding the school.

We are proud of our many achievements at Wallace Fields Junior School – of our happy and friendly atmosphere and the hard work and innovation of the staff and pupils. We are a school of excellent achievement in academic results, we make excellent provision for the personal and social development of the children here and we offer a huge range of activities both within a broad and balanced curriculum and through a variety of many different school clubs and events. As OfSTED said in our last report:

“Wallace Fields Junior is a school with an excellent ethos which reflects the school’s commitment to high achievement through challenging work and high expectations. Relationships are excellent and outstanding provision is made by the school for the personal development of pupils.”

All the staff work extremely hard for the good of the school, and the PTA and governors are all highly committed, where we all work relentlessly to ensure the children are stimulated, happy and safe. We believe that an active relationship with parents and carers is essential and so everyone is welcome and we feel the school works fully and harmoniously with the local community.  We have the full range of teaching and support staff from the highly experienced to newer teachers, keeping our approaches to life at school, fresh and vibrant whilst remaining perceptive and well informed.

The children enjoy some amazing residential trips in year 4, 5 and 6 and the school boasts many victories in sport along with success in artistic, musical and competitive events all over the county.

Our results are solid, true and carefully monitored, tracked and reviewed to ensure all children are meeting their potential and find lessons stimulating, challenging and fun.
